About Us

Troop 5, known as TOTWOTMR, the oldest troop west of the Mississippi River, is currently celebrating 110 years of continuous service to the community. It was first chartered in September of 1910, and it was originally sponsored by "A Group of Citizens" (many of whom were professors and staff at University of Denver who had sons in the troop). Troop 5 continues to use the DU colors (crimson and gold), the DU logo (pioneer wagon) and DU name (Pioneers). The Troop is currently sponsored by University Park United Methodist Church (UPUMC) and has been since 1950.

Troop 5 is a Boy Led Troop with a program designed by the Scouts emphasizing Citizenship, Service, Leadership and Fun. At our weekly meetings the boys work on advancement and development of Scout skills. The Troop strongly emphasizes outdoor activities and community service. The troop has high expectations for all members, and at minimum all members are expected to attend weekly meetings on time and in uniform. The troop also collects annual dues to pay for activities.
